What Is Sirius Rising? The Kemetic Star Calendar ☥
For 5,000 years, the Kemetic civilization tracked one star above all others: Sopdet (Sirius), the brightest star in the night sky. Her 70-day disappearance below the horizon — the period of Duat, the invisible world — was the Kemetic sacred year’s great pause. When Sopdet re-emerged on the eastern horizon just before sunrise in mid-July (the heliacal rising), it was the most sacred day of the year: Wepet Renpet, the Opening of the Year, the Kemetic New Year.
The Nile flood would follow within days. The priests announced it from temple rooftops. Isis was identified with Sopdet — her tears for Osiris were said to cause the flood that returned life to the fields. Sirius rising is not an astronomical curiosity. It is the original new year, the star-clock that governed African civilization at its peak.

How to Observe the Sirius Rising ☥
Find the pre-dawn window of July 19–25 in your location (Northern Hemisphere). Set an alarm for 4:45 AM. Face east. Sirius will appear as the brightest point on the eastern horizon just before the sky lightens. This is the moment Kemetic priests called Peret Sopdet — the emergence of Sopdet. Stand facing it for at least 10 minutes in silence.
