What Is Akhet — The Kemetic Season of the Flood ☥
Akhet (roughly September 11 – November 9 in the Kemetic calendar) is the first season of the Kemetic year — the season of inundation, when the Nile flooded and deposited the black fertile silt (kemet = black land) that made Egypt the cradle of civilization. Akhet begins immediately after Wepet Renpet (the Kemetic New Year, Jul 19) and the Sirius/Sopdet rising — the flood is the physical fulfillment of the star’s promise.
Osiris governs Akhet — his energy is the fertile darkness, the buried seed, the things that must dissolve before they can grow. Isis gathers. Thoth records. Nut arches over the sky-waters. The ancestors are closest during Akhet. In modern practice: Akhet is the season of shadow work, releasing what Shemu (summer) revealed through Sekhmet’s fire, and planting the intentions that will bloom in Peret (winter/spring).

How to Observe Akhet the Kemetic Way ☥
Set your Akhet intention — On or near September 11 (Kemetic Akhet 1), write one thing you are releasing and one thing you are seeding. Wear your deity tee as you write.
Build or refresh your ancestor altar — Akhet is the season of ancestral proximity. A photo, a candle, a cup of water, and something that belonged to them. The ancestors are not far during the flood.
