Not power as potential energy waiting to be realized, but power as force, consequence, and lived effect in the world. She is the Eye of Ra — the instrument of the solar king’s corrective authority — and she is the patron of the wab Sekhmet, the first physicians in recorded human history. Healer and destroyer. The same force. The same lioness.

The solar disk on her crown and the uraeus serpent at her brow announce her dual authority: she is the sun’s highest expression and the guardian whose bite carries divine consequence. In the myth of the Destruction of Mankind, Ra sent Sekhmet against humanity when they rose in rebellion against the solar order. Her fire was total. She was bringing humanity to extinction when Ra himself intervened — flooding the fields with red ochre beer, which Sekhmet mistook for blood in her fury and drank until she was calmed. The near-extinction halted. The theological point is not that Sekhmet was wrong. The point is that the goal was correction, not annihilation — Ma’at restored. When Ma’at was restored, Sekhmet stopped. She stopped because she is in service to the cosmic order, not to destruction itself.
