Wepet Renpet (ꜥpt-rnpt) translates as “the opening of the year.” The 70-day invisibility of Sopdet mirrors the 70 days of Osiris in the Duat — the underworld passage before reconstitution. When Sirius reappears, Osiris rises, the Nile rises, and the new agricultural and spiritual year begins. The Kemetic priests did not guess at this cycle — they built temples aligned to Sirius’s heliacal rising so that the first light of the new year would pierce the inner sanctuary precisely. This is not mythology. It is 5,000-year-old precision astronomy encoded in stone.

In 2026, Wepet Renpet falls approximately July 19–23. The conscious community does not need a Gregorian calendar to tell them when the year begins. They track the sky. Sirius disappears in late April. Osiris enters the Duat. Ra enters Akhet. The Nile holds.
