Kemetic Yoga — The Original Sacred Movement ☥ Dress the Practice

Kemetic Yoga Clothing ☥ Dress the Sacred Body — Move in Ancestral Power

Kemetic yoga draws its postures from the hieroglyphic wall paintings of ancient Kemet. Every posture invokes a specific neteru. What you wear during practice carries energetic significance. Dress the practice intentionally.

In Kemetic yoga, the practitioner is not imitating the god — they are becoming the posture that the god holds. This is conscious movement as invocation. The clothing you wear into that practice carries the energy of the tradition you are entering. Dress accordingly.

What Is Kemetic Yoga — The Original Sacred Movement ☥

Kemetic yoga (developed by Master Yirser Ra Hotep and rooted in the work of Dr. Asar Hapi) draws its postures directly from the hieroglyphic wall paintings of ancient Kemet — the figures of the neteru (gods) depicted in specific geometric angles that correspond to energy centers, cosmic alignments, and healing principles. Unlike yoga’s Indian branch, Kemetic yoga’s geometry is built on 90-degree angles rather than curves — aligning the practitioner with the cardinal directions, the Nile, and the solar and stellar paths.

The goal is not flexibility but smai tawi — the union of upper and lower Kemet, the integration of the lower self with the higher principle. Kemetic yoga is inherently deity-work: every posture invokes a specific neteru, and the practitioner is not imitating the god — they are becoming the posture that the god holds. This is conscious movement as invocation.

Kemetic Yoga Practice Clothing ☥

What you wear during Kemetic yoga practice carries energetic significance. Natural fibers (cotton, linen) have always been the traditional choice — close to the skin, breathable, aligned with the body’s electromagnetic field. Our Gods & Goddesses tees are printed on Bella+Canvas 3001 — 100% ring-spun cotton, the closest modern approximation to the lightweight linen of ancient Kemet.

Thoth ☥ governs the record and the geometry of your practice. Ptah governs the crafting of form. Nut governs the sky-body — the posture that arches over all things. The Ancestral Joggers ($65) and Ancestral Shorts ($45) complete the practice look — earthy, intentional, built to move in.

The 9 Ether Field Guide and Ancestral Way Audiobook provide the philosophical framework for understanding what you’re doing when you move in these postures. Dress the practice. The neteru notice.

How to Begin a Kemetic Yoga Practice ☥

1.

Study the postures — The 9 Ether Field Guide has deity-by-deity teachings that map to the postures. Start with Ptah (the creator of form), then Thoth ☥ (the recorder of geometry), then Osiris ☥ (the resurrection posture).

2.

Create a practice space — Even a corner of a room. A mat, an Ankh or small deity image, a candle. Wear your practice clothing. The space becomes consecrated through repetition.

3.

Begin with breath and intention — Inhale: “I am the neteru.” Exhale: “The neteru move through me.” Three breaths before any posture.

4.

Document your practice — Thoth is the scribe. Journal what opens, what tightens, what the body is telling you. The Ancestral Way Audiobook is excellent listening for the cool-down.

The neteru held these postures for 5,000 years. Enter the practice. ☥
